AGED 260

Fall 2016 I took the course AGED 260, Introduction to leadership. I was taught many theories behind leadership. One main point that I took with me is that you are not born a leader but taught to be one. This course reflected that point by showing what qualities and characteristics made a good leader and a not so good leader. We took different surveys along the way to test out our own leadership qualities and to see what we could improve on. I learned a lot about the history behind leadership, such as the philosophers who define leadership. At the end of the course we were required to complete a project combining everything we learned throughout the course. This project helped practice those leadership qualities while working with others as well as show how much we really understood the theories. Now that I have taken this course I look at leadership differently. I enjoyed this class because we not only learned about leadership but we applied to our lives and practiced it. Also, I appreciate this course because it is the course that informed me on receiving my leadership certificate. This class was the base of leadership and the things learned in this class shows up in some of my other classes, such as my orientation leader course and agribusiness course. I have learned a lot and now when I look at leaders I relate them to what I learned in AGED 260.
